Drug Uses
Aciphex is used for treatment of ulcers, gastro esophageal reflux disease (GERD or heartburn), and other conditions involving excessive stomach acid production. This drug decreases the amount of acid produced in your stomach.

How Taken
Aciphex comes in delayed release, enteric coated tablets taken by mouth. They are specially formulated to gradually release in your body. The general dosage for adults is one Aciphex 20 mg tablet once a day for four to eight weeks. Each dose is taken with a full glass of water. Aciphex should be swallowed whole. Do not break, chew, or split the tablets. They are specially formulated to release slowly in your body.

Warnings/Precautions
You may not be able to take Aciphex, or may need a dosage adjustment or monitoring during your treatment if you are taking other medication, especially if you are taking– ketoconazole (Nizoral), ampicillin (Omnipen, Principen), iron (Feosol/MolIron/Fergon/Femiron, etc.), digoxin (Lanoxin/Lanoxicaps), or cyclosporine (Sandimmune, Neoral). Notify your doctor of all the medicine you are taking.

Missed Dose
If you miss a dose take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the Missed Dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Possible Side Effects
Some of the Possible Side Effects are– an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, closing of your throat, swelling of your lips/tongue/face, or hives), headache, upset stomach or diarrhea, insomnia, nervousness, a rash or itching. If you experience any of these or any other side effects contact your doctor as soon as possible.

Storage
Store this medication at room temperature between15–30°C (59–86°F). Keep away from children and excess heat, light and moisture (not in the bathroom).

Overdose
If overdose is suspected seek medical attention immediately.

More Information
Unless you doctor recommends you otherwise, there are no restrictions on food, drinks, or activities while taking Aciphex. You can live you usual lifestyle. Do not stop taking Aciphex before your doctor approves.
